DSP Design Group was formed in 1986
to provide consulting services in digital signal processing and statistical
pattern recognition to technology companies and the U.S. Air Force.
Since that time, DSP Design Group has expanded its services to include
software development, database planning and design, and Internet computing.
DSP Design Group now provides services for companies throughout the
United States. DSP Design Group prides itself on thorough research
with a significant technical focus. Reports and short courses are
detailed yet easily understandable and useful beyond the time of the
consulting visit.
The president and founder of the company is Dr. John J. Westerkamp.
Dr. Westerkamp is the principal researcher and consultant. Dr. John
J. Westerkamp was born in Dayton, Ohio. He received the Bachelor
of Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Dayton in
1980. He received the Masters degree and Ph.D. from Purdue University
in West Lafayette, Indiana, in 1981 and 1985. Dr. Westerkamp served
on the faculty in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
at the University of Dayton for 17 years and is currently the President
of DSP Design Group. He is also the Chief Technology Officer and
Director of the IT Business Unit for Productivity
Network Innovations, L.L.C.
Dr. Westerkamp is a leading expert in radar signal processing and
automatic target recognition. He received the Brian M. Hendrickson
Award for Outstanding Technical Research from the U.S. Air Force
Research Laboratory Sensors Directorate in 1999. Dr. Westerkamp
holds a patent for a digital filter implementation of an active
suspension system for automobiles using programmable digital signal
processing chips. He is a member of IEEE, Eta Kappa Nu, and Tau
Beta Pi.
